Russia’s parliamentary election entered its final day after authorities reported the largest drone attack yet directed at the capital.

Russian officials said more than 1,600 drones had been intercepted since Saturday, including about 450 targeting Moscow.

Some aircraft reached an oil refinery and residential areas, killing two people in the Moscow region and forcing hundreds to evacuate.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin accused Ukraine of attempting to disrupt the vote, while Kyiv had not immediately commented on the operation.

The election is Russia’s first parliamentary vote since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022.

United Russia is expected to retain control amid limited competition, with most prominent anti-war candidates prevented from participating.

Preliminary results will be examined for signs of public dissatisfaction linked to the war, fuel shortages, inflation and restrictions on political opposition.
