U.S. President Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen to 32%, the lowest level recorded for him in a Reuters/Ipsos poll, as voters express mounting concern about living costs.
The four-day survey found weakening support even among Republicans, with 73% approving of Trump’s performance, down from 82% in the previous week.
Only 17% of respondents approved of his handling of the cost of living, reflecting frustration over inflation and higher fuel prices linked partly to disruption in global energy markets.
The prolonged conflict with Iran has also weighed on public opinion. Just 34% of those surveyed supported the U.S. strikes, according to the poll.
The numbers present a political challenge for Republicans ahead of November’s midterm elections. The survey showed Democrats leading Republicans by 43% to 35% in voter preference.
Immigration remained one of Trump’s stronger issues among Republican voters, but his ratings on the economy and crime were considerably weaker across the broader electorate.
The poll surveyed 1,277 U.S. adults and carried a margin of error of about three percentage points, meaning short-term shifts should be interpreted within that statistical range.
