ANKARA, 23 October 2026 — Turkey’s parliament has passed legislation intended to manage the liquidation of more than 100 frozen investment funds, a move that could help hundreds of thousands of investors recover at least part of their savings.
Reuters reported that the measures aim to provide interim payments of up to 1 million Turkish lira, with inflation adjustments included in the framework.
The funds became the focus of a major financial scandal after investors experienced difficulties withdrawing money and regulators ordered liquidation proceedings last month.
Authorities say liquidation has been completed for 84 of the 131 affected funds and that payments have begun in some cases.
However, investors remain concerned about transparency, the timing of payments and the amount larger investors may ultimately recover. Allegations of price manipulation and inflated asset values have added to uncertainty.
The new law is intended to establish a clearer process, but its practical impact will depend on the valuation of assets and how quickly administrators distribute available funds.
