The United States has proposed a three-way technical meeting with Ukraine and Russia in the United Arab Emirates to discuss possible steps toward ending the war, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said.
Ukraine is waiting for Washington to suggest a date, while the Emirates has been identified as a possible location for the talks.
The proposal followed meetings between Zelenskiy and US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Ukrainian and American negotiators subsequently discussed practical details, and Zelenskiy said European partners would also be briefed as consultations continue.
The Kremlin indicated that a trilateral encounter involving Russia, Ukraine and the United States could take place soon, offering a cautious sign of diplomatic movement.
Zelenskiy said the parties could return within ten days with either a new perspective or a result, while stressing the importance of de-escalation before winter.
A meeting would not guarantee a settlement, but direct technical discussions could test whether the sides can identify limited confidence-building measures before higher-level negotiations.
