Conflict reaches vulnerable communities

Local accounts described armed confrontations that caused deaths and displacement. Access constraints and communications disruptions make rapid independent verification difficult, while humanitarian agencies repeatedly warn that civilians face hunger, disease and loss of basic services.

Sudan’s wider war has fragmented authority and placed enormous pressure on neighbouring countries receiving refugees. Each new local clash complicates aid delivery and increases the danger that communal disputes become entangled with national armed factions.
